Fund Raising Family Fun Day
New Mills AFC will be hosting a Family Fun Day on Saturday 10th May in aid of the Craniofacial Unit at Alderhey Childrens Hospital in Liverpool.
The event is being organised by Club member Tracy Shufflebotham whose 14 month old son Ethan suffers from a condition called trigonocephaly. This is the premature fusion of the metopic suture (part of the frontal suture which joins the two halves of the frontal bone of the skull) in which a V-shaped abnormality occurs at the front of the skull. Ethan will soon be undergoing a major eight hour operation at Alderhey Childrens Hospital where craniofacial specialists will correct the deformities to the bones in both his face and skull.

Tracy is therefore organising a fund raising day for this extremely worthwhile cause and planned events include -
-    table top raffle and tombola
-    female head shave
-    male waxing
-    face painting
-    kids football on the Astroturf
-    Beat the Keeper -  all four New Mills AFC goalkeepers have kindly agreed to take part in a penalty shoot out.
The clubhouse is open all day, hot and cold food will be available during the day (lets hope the sun is shining) and local band The Link will be playing in the marquee until 4pm followed by a disco in the evening.

The fun starts at 11.30am so everyone is urged to come along and enjoy the Family Fun Day and support Alderhey Childrens Hospital.

  18/1/08 -
The club is pleased to announce that today they have applied to the North West Youth Alliance League to run an for the 2008/09 Season.  If the application is accepted the team will play home games on Wednesday night and away games will be played on Sunday afternoon.

On acceptance to the league the club will appoint Steve Kennedy as the Youth Team Manager, Steve was a professional footballer at Burnley FC between 1981 and 1989 until a damaged cruciate ligament ended his playing career, he then coached Burnley Under 17's.  Steve for the last six years has been running youth teams with much success and last year his squad of players won the Cheshire Cup, Anglo Welsh Tournament and the Cambrian French Academy Tournament.

Steve is bringing to the club an established team but is eager to point out that he is looking for players who are "good enough" to join the squad and over the next few months will be looking at local teams, setting up training sessions at the ground and arranging friendlies at Church Lane to look at players.

From the clubs point of view it is another stage in the long term plans of the club to develop, the under 18 Team will be a feeder team to the First and Reserve Squad and Steve will work closely with the New Mills Management team and Committee for future success at New Mills.

When the club has any further information with regard to the application it will be posted on the website.
